The OBC: Opticians of British Columbia offers a full range of online Continuing Education programs through our partnership with the Opticians Association of Canada. In addition to the many opportunities for basic and enhanced education, the OBC: Opticians of British Columbia is committed to providing meaningful education courses and programs to assist you in meeting your Mandatory Continuing Education requirements. Are you an Optician in need of credits? Membership in the OBC: Opticians of British Columbia entitles you to four FREE credits a year. Upon receipt of your membership application or renewal, you must choose con ed modules that equal four credits and they will be sent to you via email for your completion. OBC: Opticians of British Columbia members have access to the extensive continuing education courses prepared by our partners the Opticians Association of Canada. Click on the following links for online modules, online video lectures, interactive online courses, as well as traditional paper based material. The OBC also provide materials that will enable you to develop your own study clubs: Field supervision is an important component of the NAIT/OAC Distance Delivery program. You can get a lot of satisfaction out of becoming involved in this program at the same time you earn continuing education credits. Registration to this website is free! There is only a fee when you actually choose to take an online course and earn credits - typically $15 CDN per course for OBC/OAC members. All of the continuing education modules are in electronic format and are sent via email. Answer sheets may be faxed, mailed or emailed to the OAC office and a continuing education certificate will be mailed to you within 1-2 weeks. Individual Modules: OAC members: $15.00 per credit Non-members: $60.00 for 1 or 2 credit modules; $30.00 per credit for all modules over 2 credits. The College of Opticians has taken a proactive role in ensuring universal access to MCE credits for all registered Opticians in BC. Creating your own study group is simple! Click on the above link. Download the 'Application for Providers of MCE Courses' and fill in the application. You will also need to assemble a curriculum or outline. Submit the requested information to the College of Opticians and they will evaluate the course material and within five working days inform you whether the course is approved. Approved course will be assigned a code number, credit value and a short title. And that's it!
